Alpharetta, Georgia – A woman charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal accident is stated to have been talking on her cell phone when the crash occurred. As reported by WSBTV, Haleigh Davis Fine, 23, turned herself into authorities on Wednesday after being accused of causing an accident that killed a 67-year-old man last month.

As noted in the report, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood campaigned for the banning of cell phones in vehicles days after the fatal accident.

Alpharetta Public Safety Officer George Gordon is quoted in the report as stating of the accident, “The heartbreaking thing about this whole thing is we had a totally innocent driver lose his life driving straight in his lane and not doing anything wrong.”

There were approximately a reported 3,000 deaths related to distracted driving in the U.S last year.

Road Hazard Warnings and Car Accidents

Posted by:  /  Tags: , , , , , ,

Road signs and signals are an essential component of safe driving. Even the most defensive driver cannot predict what is coming when a road hazard sign is inadequate or simply missing.

ATLANTA, GA, June 01, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ — Road signs and signals are an essential component of safe driving. Even the most defensive driver cannot predict what is coming when a road hazard sign is inadequate or simply missing. Sadly, thousands of car accidents are caused by insufficient road hazard warnings every year, resulting in medical expenses, an inability to work, physical and emotional pain and suffering, and even death.

If you have sustained an injury or a loved one’s life has been taken in a car accident that you believe could have been avoided if proper road hazard warnings had been in place, you may have a right to substantial compensation. An experienced car accident attorney can investigate the cause of your accident, determine if a state or local municipality is responsible, and fight to get you the justice you deserve.

Examples of Conditions Requiring Road Hazard Warnings

Your car accident attorney will need to establish that your accident was caused by inadequate road hazard warnings. To do this, he or she will need to look at whether or not road hazard warnings were present and, if so, where they were located.

Things requiring hazard warnings that your car accident attorney will look for include:

– Signals and signs

– Inclement weather warnings

– High wind warnings

– Improperly seated rails

– Bumpy, uneven, or potholed pavement

– Road construction

– Improper or inadequate lighting

– Sharp twists or turns

If hazard warnings were not present or if they were difficult to see, your car accident attorney may be able to hold numerous parties responsible for your injuries. Because these lawsuits are often filed against government entities, they can be terribly difficult to win. Having an aggressive and experienced car accident attorney on your side is the only way to make sure you are treated fairly and provided the full compensation you are due.
