WORCESTER — Christina Castro, 27, was allowed to see her 3-year-old son one last time before the deceased child’s wake and funeral on Sunday, reports The Worcester Telegram & Gazette*. She did not attend the wake or funeral.
Castro, of Wall Street Court, Worcester, is being held on $ 50,000 bail on charges of motor vehicle homicide and reckless endangerment of a child.
According to the Telegram & Gazette, Castro’s lawyer filed a motion on Friday asking for her to be allowed to leave MCI Framingham to attend a private viewing from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rock of Salvation Pentecostal Church in Worcester before Jayden’s wake, which started at 6 p.m.
According to the Telegram & Gazette, District Court Judge David P. Despotopoulos granted the motion Friday, but it was impounded until Monday.
Castro’s son Jayden Figueroa died on March when, according to the police, the car she was driving crashed into parked vehicles on Franklin Street. Two of Jayden’s three brothers were also in the car. His 7-year-old brother was still in intensive care as of Friday, while his 5-year-old brother was released from the hospital last week, reports the Telegram & Gazette.
