AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) — One year after a fatal car accident claimed the lives of two young men, the driver of the vehicle is being charged.

Jason Fredrickson, 44, of rural Elkton, is facing multiple counts of criminal vehicular homicide.  According to the complaint, Fredrickson was driving 120 miles an hour under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

According to the criminal complaint, Fredrickson’s blood alcohol content was more than point-one-two at the time of the crash.

Fredrickson was drinking on Feb. 25 last year with Jacob Moe, Luke Unverzagt and their wives at a bar.

The couples went back to the Unverzagt residence.

A short time later, their wives saw Fredrickson’s Cadillac leaving the driveway.

Police were called just before 2 a.m. to 2810 4th Ave. SE where Fredrickson’s car had crashed in the front lawn.

Luke Unverzagt was found ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Jacob Moe was also ejected and later pronounced dead at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

It was later determined that Fredrickson was driving the car.

A state patrol accident reconstruction concluded he was going 120 miles an hour before the car went airborne and went through two poles and a tree.

If convicted, Fredrickson faces up to 60 years in prison.
