SPRINGFIELD -Police have confirmed a 23-year-old Springfield firefighter was killed in a one car accident on the corner of Cottage Street and Brookdale Drive Sunday.
Sgt. John Delaney, aide to Police Commissioner William Fitchet, said Kenneth Murray, of Springfield, who is the son of a Springfield police sergeant, was ejected from the vehicle around 3:18 a.m.
The investigation was led by Sgt. Steven Wyszynski of the traffic bureau’s fatal accident squad.
Delaney said excessive speed has been listed as the cause of the accident. It was not clear whether Murray was wearing a seat belt. The accident is still under investigation.
