SIMPSONVILLE — A 48-year-old Simpsonville man was killed Sunday in a one-car wreck on West Georgia Road.

Marvin Hunter of 110 Newgate Drive died of blunt force trauma, said Jeff Fowler of the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

Fowler said Hunter was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. at the scene of the accident.

Highway Patrol spokesman Bill Rhyne said the driver of a 1995 Honda Accord was heading west on West Georgia Road when he ran off the right side of the road.

The car hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn, strike several trees and eject the driver.

Hunter was not wearing a seatbelt, Rhyne said.

A driver on West Georgia Road spotted the vehicle and then a man’s body at approximately 8 a.m. and called 911.
