Rash Of Car Break-Ins Under Investigation

Posted by:

ATLANTA — Police need help solving a rash of car break-ins in northeast Atlanta.

Investigators said the crimes are happening in the middle of the day in business parking lots.

On Monday, Channel 2 found shards of glass in the 1500 block of DeKalb Avenue where police said someone broke into a car last week. Investigators released video that showed three people scanning cars and then smashing in windows.

Celestino Rodriguez works close by and said, “They use a brick to break a window and they got two guys looking out.”

Police told Channel 2 on that same day, Feb. 10, a group of people broke into a car outside of Fox Brother’s Barbecue in the 1200 block of DeKalb Avenue. A witness at the scene told investigators that the people drove off in a gray four-door car. The car description is similar to the one seen in the surveillance video.

“It’s pretty inconvenient to have to get your window replaced,” said John Fallon, who also works in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Atlanta police.
