CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A police officer was injured in a crash on Thursday.

The crash occurred on Interstate 675 at Anvil Block Road in Clayton County shortly before noon.

Channel 2’s Jason Durden flew over the scene, where two damaged vehicles blocked the southbound lanes. The back end of a police car was smashed in, and a Royal Foods delivery truck further down had front-end damage.

All north and southbound lanes on the interstate were closed as authorities investigated the crash.

Medical crews loaded the officer on a stretcher into a helicopter. He was being taken to an area hospital, authorities said. There was no word on his condition.

Vehicles in the southbound lanes were told to turn around through the emergency lane.
