New York State Police say four people were killed in a one-car accident on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island.
They say the car was heading west when it veered into a wooded area, striking several trees.

Police say a fifth person was taken to a hospital, but information was available about the person’s condition.
The accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. Monday in Malverne, near exit 17.
The westbound lanes of the parkway were closed between exits 17-19.
