A motor vehicle accident involving multiple cars and trucks caused the Port Authority to close the New Jersey-bound, north tube of the Lincoln Tunnel at about noon today, a spokesman said.
Ron Marsico, a Port Authority spokesman, said the accident involved five trucks and three cars and the north tube of the tunnel was closed after the accident.
The south tube, into Manhattan, is still open and allowing traffic inbound to the city, Marsico said, and the center tunnel to New Jersey has one lane open, according to 511nj.org.
1010 WINS radio reported a 90-minute traffic delay at 1 p.m.
Earlier in the day an accident involving two buses left 17 people injured and tied up traffic for hours.
