PENNSBORO -A multi-car accident on U.S. 50, near Pennsboro, closed the westbound lanes this morning.
According to James White, with the Ritchie County Office of Emergency Services, and the West Virginia Department of Highways, U.S. 50 westbound was closed this morning following a multi-car accident at the W.Va 74 intersection near Pennsboro.
The wreck closed a portion of U.S. 50 for about an hour and a half Monday morning. Traffic was rerouted through Pennsboro.
The accident involved four cars. Ambulances from Ritchie and Doddridge counties were dispatched along with an Air Evac helicopter, White said.
“One person was ejected from one vehicle,” White said.
Five people were transported to various hospitals, White said.
“There were serious injuries involved,” he said.
Members of the West Virginia State Police and Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office were working the accident.
“Not sure (yet) what happened,” White said.
