Tennessee Highway Patrol officials reported a fatal crash Wednesday along Highway 45 in South Madison County.



The driver, 54-year-old James Westmoreland, Jr., was traveling South on U.S. Highway 45 when his vehicle veered into the median and struck a traffic sign, a Tennessee Highway Patrol fatality report reads.



Westmoreland of Georgia then over-corrected and went back across the southbound lanes and struck a tree.



He died, the only victim in the single-car crash.
