MIAMI — An Illinois woman died after a single-vehicle car accident Saturday in Ottawa County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
The car veered off the road as it traveled westbound about 12:50 p.m. on the Interstate 44 Will Rogers Turnpike about eight miles east of Miami, troopers said.
The car struck a fence, went airborne and rolled before it stopped. A passenger, Margaret Caliendo, 50, of Bolingbrook, Ill., was taken to a hospital in Joplin, Mo., where she died from her injuries, the highway patrol reported.
The driver, Ralph Caliendo, 63, of Bolingbrook, Ill. was admitted to the hospital A second passenger, 4, was treated but uninjured.
Everyone in the car wore a seat belt and air bags were deployed, troopers said.
