FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police in Fulton County said two home invaders remained on the loose Wednesday morning and a third is dead after a bizarre chain of events led to a police chase, crash and shots fired.
The incident happened on Ivywood Drive and County Line Road.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Darryn Moore spoke to a couple who said the same home invaders tried to break inside their home and it was their son who helped police track them down.
“Our son was able to identify the car,” said the parent, who did not want to be identified.
The couple told Moore that the same men the police are looking for tried to break into their home two days ago, and came back Tuesday night to finish the job.
“It’s pretty scary. Our son was at home by himself,” said the parent.
The parent said for some reason, the men drove away.
“They left our house and went to invade another home where there was an exchange of gunfire,” said the parent.
The shooting happened on Telleco Circle in south Fulton County shortly after police spotted the men in a car and chased them, police said. The chase ended in a crash on Ivywood Drive and County Line Road when the driver smashed into a car, which sent a young girl to the hospital.
“When I came up the street, the car was against the tree and my niece was still in the car. They had to cut her out,” said the girl’s aunt.
Sgt. Scott McBride of the Fulton County Police Department said all three men ran, but one was killed.
“One of the suspects was struck by a car driving in the street,” said McBride.
Officers said they recovered a gun they believe was used in the home invasion.
Police have not yet released the name of the man who was killed.
