Tragedy hit the restaurant community this week, as Greens chef John Paul Ueber was killed in a car crash on the Daly City stretch of Highway 280 on Tuesday morning; he was only 32 years old. It was only a few weeks ago that Greens executive chef Annie Somerville was singing the praises of Ueber, who was her right-hand man and head chef, and had been working at the Fort Mason vegetarian institution for nearly 10 years.
From the Bay City News report:
“He was a very multi-talented person,” she said. “A very accomplished person. Super energetic, always moving forward.”
A social man who spent his free time outdoors, Ueber was also a true leader, Somerville said.
“He was super responsible,” she said. “He was great at teaching people to be efficient.”
