GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Duluth man was killed in a wreck on an icy Gwinnett County street, according to the Gwinnett Police Department.
The crash occurred at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
“Weather and speed appear to be contributing causes in this accident,” Gwinnett County police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a news release.
Ritter said 67-year-old Carlos Rodriguez was driving northbound on Breckinridge Boulevard when he rear-ended a Toyota Corolla in the next lane.
“It is believed at this time that the driver of vehicle 1 was driving too fast for conditions,” Ritter said.
Rodriguez then lost control and struck a light pole on the right shoulder, Ritter said. He said Rodriguez died at the scene. The Toyota Corolla driver, identified as 26-year-old Salvador Altuve, of Duluth, was not hurt, Ritter said.
