The driver in a fatal car accident that occurred almost two years ago in Tyngsborough will find out his trial date on Sept. 27 when he appears in Lowell District Court on charges of vehicular homicide, marked lane violations, and speeding. Louis Amaro, 20, of Lowell says he has no memory of the accident that killed his girlfriend, 20-year-old Alda Phung. State Police determined that Amaro was speeding at the time, but that alcohol was not a factor. Relatives who were traveling in a second car reported seeing an animal run across the road, allegedly causing Amaro to swerve and lose control of his car as he turned onto Sherburne Avenue. The car crashed into a tree; Phung died of head and internal injuries at Lowell General Hospital shortly afterward.
