Mark Bowen, Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner, tells WJBF News Channel 6 that a Blythe, Georgia man died in a Monday morning accident on the 1500 block of Brown Road at Cedarwood Drive.
The victim is identified as 37-year-old Tony Jay Grammer, of the 3600 block of Highway 88, in Blythe.
Grammer was the sole occupant of a 1993 Dodge Shadow, traveling east on Brown Road. A vehicle in front of Grammer was attempting to turn into a driveway when Grammer swerved into the westbound lanes striking a 2004 Dodge Durango head on.
Grammer died at the scene from injuries he received in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bowen at 8:15 a.m. He was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Richmond County Fire Department. Grammer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
