GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County firefighters were called to a home early Tuesday morning after two cars in the driveway went up in flames.
Arson investigators were at the scene on Bishop Circle in Norcross where they talked to the homeowners to try to figure out exactly what happened.
The family told Channel 2 Action News reporter Darryn Moore that at about 3 a.m., someone tried to break through a back window into a bedroom. Girls inside the bedroom began screaming and the person ran off, the family said.
About an hour later, the family said they heard an explosion and found two cars in the driveway engulfed in flames.
The fire was so intense, only the frame of a Honda Civic was left. A Ford Expedition was also heavily damaged.
Fire investigators have not said exactly what started the fire.
Authorities continue to investigate.
