ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — The fire department had to extricate a 19-year-old from a car following a three car accident.

A three car accident was reported around 3:00 p.m. on Route 1 in front of Savers Discount store, at 130 Boston Post Road.

A 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound in the left lane when it made contact with another westbound car in the right lane.

Officials say the Jeep driver, Gary Cioffi, of Muttontown, NY then lost control of the car and hit the rear of a second westbound car before rolling over and striking a utility pole with the windshield area.

The Orange Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to extricate Cioffi from the Jeep. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life treatening injuries.

A passenger in the Jeep was able to get out on his own and was also transported with minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Officer Ryan Ahern at (203) 891-2130.
