Sugar Land Police are investigating a single-car wreck New Years morning that led to the death of a man, authorities said.
Doug Adolph, a spokesman for the Sugar Land Police Department, said a vehicle headed westbound on State Highway 90 hit a traffic pole near Savoy Street, pinning the passenger inside. Adolph said the accident was reported about 6 a.m., and officers found the driver standing outside of the vehicle and the passenger trapped inside.
First responders extricated the passenger, who died either en route to the hospital or after arriving there, Adolph said. He said he did not have information about the identity of the driver or the passenger, did not know their relationship to one another or ages.
Adolph said the investigation is still under way and no charges have been filed.
